CJEU: Arrival Time

Reference for a preliminary ruling — Air transport — Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 — Articles 2, 5 and 7 — Right to compensation in the event of a long delay to a flight — Length of delay — Concept of ‘arrival time’

The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) defined the term "arrival time" regarding air travel as the moment, when at least one door of the airplane opens and passengers are enabled to leave. This decision was made after the regional court of Salzburg (Landesgericht Salzburg, Austria) asked the CJEU for clarification in this matter due to a trial about a delayed flight of the airline Germanwings.
