FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014

ECC-Leaflet informs soccer enthusiastic consumers

The 20th FIFA World Cup will take place in Brazil from June 12th to July 13th 2014. The ECC-Net published a leaflet for European fans who want to attend the games.

The leaflet provides information about the settings on-site and about most frequently needed legal rights of European travellers. From buying the tickets, to the flight right up to potential problems (e.g. medical issues) – the leaflet is a compact and helpful companion for the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

The European Consumer Centers Network can help EU citizens in case of troubles with European companies (like airlines, traders, hotels etc.). It is co-funded by the European Commission.

ECC Belgium provided the brochure and published different language versions on its website.

Will air passenger rights change soon?

A new attempt for revised passenger rights in air travel is here. The Chamber of Labour registers countless complaints about the payment service Klarna and is now suing this Swedish bank, which grew strongly during the Corona pandemic. Klarna handles online transactions for purchases in online shops and enables payment on account. The ECC also has daily complaint calls about Klarna and is eagerly awaiting the verdict.

A decision by the ECJ has once again clearly strengthened air passenger rights. If a flight is cancelled or significantly delayed due to an announced strike by airline staff, passengers may have a right to compensation.

Review of 1 year of legal assistance by ECC in Corona-related consumer cases

In 2020, victims turned more than ever to the European Consumer Centre (ECC) Austria, part of the Austrian Association for Consumer Information (VKI).
