The Austrian consumer protection association VKI published its annual price comparison of Austrian ski areas. The trend to merge regions, in order to make unused land accessible, continues.
Please note: Regrettably, the results are only available in German.
Bargain at Schneeberg
The above mentioned trend does not only influence nature, but also prices. On average, day tickets for adults cost 1.95 percent more than last year. The VKI focused on smaller, family-friendly and reasonable areas. The Schneeberg in Lower Austria is the cheapest region (15 Euro per day ticket, 25 Euro if the second ski lift is open and seven more kilometers are available).
The most expensive area according to the VKI's test is Kitzbühel in Tyrol (53 Euro per day ticket), followed by the tourist regions Arlberg (Vorarlberg/Tyrol), Ischgl (Tyrol), Saalbach-Fieberbrunn (Styria/Tyrol) and Sölden (Tyrol) with 52 Euro per day ticket each.
