Powers of attorney

If a European Consumer Centre is to handle your complaint against a company, we and our branches abroad require your written permission to represent your interests. This is the sole purpose of the power of attorney. The choice of the correct power of attorney depends on where the company has its registered office .

If you have completed a complaint against a foreign company on our online form, it will automatically select the correct power of attorney for the country in which the company is based.

The automatic method is based on your input in step 2 of the online form. You can now sign directly on the website in step 6. We recommend this method as it is the simplest. To do this, sign directly in the grey field with your mouse or with your finger on touchscreen displays.

Alternatively, you can also download the preselected power of attorney form from the input mask in this step (# 6) . Sign it on your device or print it out and sign it digitally, then photograph or scan it if necessary and upload it again. This procedure however is much more cumbersome than signing directly on the website. Please note that we do not accept powers of attorney written by yourself.

Picking the right POA yourself

The country where the company is based determines what power of attorney we need in order to help you. Please check the legal notice on the company's website to see which country the company lists as its head office ! If the company is based...

  • in Germany (e.g. at companies such as TUI, Lufthansa, Copecart, etc.),
  • in Sweden (e.g. Klarna),
  • in Luxembourg (e.g. Amazon, PayPal, Advanzia),
  • in the United Kingdom (only for hire car cases required)
  • or in Hungary (e.g. WizzAir),
please use the power of attorney for that country from the list below.

  • For all other countries, please use the authorisation form from the EVZ Austria!

  • For complaints against healthcare providers (e.g. dental services, laboratory diagnoses, pharmacies, etc.), please also sign the waiver of medical confidentiality listed below.
