The EU Commission changed its mind on limiting free roaming. As promised by the president of the Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, at his speech about the state of the Union, the respective proposal was withdrawn and reworked.
Today, a new draft was presented. According to it, the new modell should base on the place of residence or other strong ties of a consumer to a certain Member State. A time or volume limit is not foreseen. Those were the most criticised points of the proposal that was withdrawn by Juncker after just a few days (ECC Austria reported).
Roaming charges will be abolished in June 2017. The final proposal of the respective rules will be presented in December 2016.
