New Ten Euro Banknote

More security features

The new banknote will be in circulation within the EU on 23. September 2014. Due to its new security features it will be easier for consumers to check if it is authentic.

Following the €5 banknote, the new €10 banknote resumes the so called “Europe series”. According to a press release of the European Central Bank (ECB) the new €10 banknote will be more resistant against counterfeiting.

Consumers can check the authenticity of their banknotes with the “feel, look and tilt” method, with which the new security features become identifiable. For example: When tilted, an “emerald number” displays an effect of light that moves up and down. It also changes its colour to deep blue. The hologram and watermark shows the figure of “Europa” from the Greek mythology.

Find more information about the new €10 banknote at the specifically built website of the European Central Bank (ECB).
