About us
We, the European Consumer Centre (ECC), are based in Austria at the Association for Consumer Information (VKI). Such centres exist in all EU Member States as well as in Norway, Iceland and the United Kingdom. They form a network established by the European Commission to help consumers exercise their rights when shopping across borders in Europe and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the internal market. Advice is free of charge in all centres.

We intervene...
... out of court in the event of consumer problems with companies. With the help of our respective national offices, we contact the companies and make claims on behalf of the injured parties in accordance with statutory consumer protection. As a rule, we reach amicable solutions. If companies do not co-operate, we inform injured parties about other dispute resolution options.
We are active as the ECC-Net network for consumer protection. Our strength lies in the expertise and networked cooperation of over 150 lawyers in 30 country offices.
