Claims against car rental companies have increased for some time now. The EU Commission therefore implemented an EU-wide action, in cooperation with the Network of the European Consumer Centres (ECC-Net) and national enforcement bodies. The result: Five leading rental car companies have promised to evaluate their business practices with regards to European consumer rights and to develop a more consumer friendly policy in several areas.
The providers Avis Budget, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt want to make some significant changes until the end of 2015. Nevertheless, the EU Commission still has some open question that need to be clarified.
