EU logo: Safer online purchase of medicine

Label for professional online pharmacies

It seems that the internet offers everything you want and more. By now, a lot of consumers like to do their shopping without having to leave their house. The comfortable advantages tend to outweigh all safety concerns, but caution is necessary. Especially when it comes to medicine, online shopping bears many risks. Dubious sellers distribute falsified, ineffective, substandard and even harmful products.

The EU has taken several actions according to Directive 2011/62/EU (the Falsified Medicines Directive) in order to protect consumers against those dangerous practices. Since 1 July 2015, professional and legally operating online pharmacies are labelled with a logo. It has green and grey stripes and a white cross in the middle. Furthermore, it shows the national flag of the respective EU Member State, Iceland, Norway or Lichtenstein. Other flags are not allowed.

Find more information regarding the logo in this article of the European Consumer Centre Austria (ECC).

Many online retailers do not want to shoulder this additional effort. This is why it can be observed more and more in online shops that delivery to Austria is currently not possible.

Will air passenger rights change soon?

Will air passenger rights change soon?

A new attempt for revised passenger rights in air travel is here. The initiative could lead to the replacement of the old Air Passenger Rights Regulation, especially in the area of delays and flight cancellations. This means that air travellers in the EU will get more rights in the future - but also fewer in certain cases.
